Offshore Energy Management System
Unique modular system to support offshore wind construction and operation
About the Client
Vissim is a Norwegian company specializing in software development and infrastructure for cutting-edge marine optimization systems.
The company assists global clients in planning, monitoring, and optimizing offshore wind, energy, port, and coastal operations and assets enabling cost-efficient, safer, and more sustainable operations, both environmentally and financially.
Vissim offers a crucial decision support platform that enhances offshore logistics, marine and harbor traffic management, asset protection, and maritime security.
Vissim’s maritime operations management and situational awareness technologies serve clients in the offshore wind, oil and gas sectors, and port and coastal authorities around the world.
About the Solution
During the construction and operation of offshore wind farms, there is a vast number of personnel, vessels, and tasks to track, coordinate, and manage. This is all done on the open seas, often in areas with high maritime traffic levels.
For a medium-sized wind farm, the construction phase alone involves over 5 million man-hours at sea. Handling this complexity, especially with multiple contractors, requires a detailed approach.
That’s where Vissim OSEM solution excels. The system offers a clear overview of operations with user-friendly tools for planning, tracking, communication, and data management. This aids marine coordinators and planners in making informed decisions based on real-time data.
Vissim OSEM has proven effective in the construction and maintenance of numerous offshore wind farms worldwide.
About the Project
- The Offshore Energy Management System (OSEM) offers vital tools for compliance, logistics, work planning, and operational analysis to stakeholders in the offshore energy sector, including marine planners, technicians, contractors, and managers.
- Designed to streamline daily activities, the OSEM platform fosters efficient operations and communication within a secure, collaborative environment.
- Offshore wind farm operators can delegate much of the marine coordination workload to contractors, resulting in cost savings, increased transparency, and retained control over data and security.
The System Modules
The Employees Module
Module Goal
The Employees Module is designed to help manage all offshore wind farm personnel, while adhering to GDPR regulations, health and safety regulations and operation requirements applicable to the wind farm.
Module Functionality
The module allows offshore personnel to manage their data, provide and maintain mandatory certificates and take online inductions and e-courses.
The Assets Module
Module Goal
The Assets Module is designed to help manage all offshore wind farm asset status such as access, custody, power and operational status, in a controlled and safe manner.
Module Functionality
The module provides admin users with a full overview of the wind farm assets’ status, to help support the next planned status changes. All asset statuses are sent in real time.
The Manifests Module
Module Goal
The Manifests Module is designed to help create and manage vessel and helicopter manifests in a simple and efficient manner, while adhering to all health and safety regulations and operational requirements applicable to the wind farm.
Module Functionality
When creating manifests, the module will provide support information to help admins users with decisions and notify any issues with personnel (passengers and crew), vessels or helicopters certs, inductions, RFID cards, etc.
The Resources Module
Module Goal
The Resources Module is designed to help manage all offshore wind farm transportation resources, both vessels and helicopters, while adhering to all health and safety regulations and operation requirements.
Module Functionality
The module provides admin users with a full overview of the transportation resources and enables them to manage the information required for manifests, such as vehicle data and certificates, and approve or reject resources based on the data at hand.
The Transfer Planning Module
Module Goal
The Transfer Planning Module is designed to help manage all the offshore wind farm logistics operations of both, people and cargo, structuring them into a coherent plan for a day.
Module Functionality
The module allows Marine Coordinator or Maintenance Planner plan, record and communicate their operational plans of transferring cargo and/or personnel, both individuals and teams, among Ports, Assets and Resources.
The Permits Module
Module Goal
The term “permit-to-work” (PTW) refers to the certificate or form which authorizes certain people to carry out specific work at a specific site at a certain time, and sets out the main precautions needed to complete the job safely.
Module Functionality
1. Permit request function
2. Permit approval function
3. Permit approval status function
The Reports Module
Module Goal
The reports are all generated by our main reporting engine, which ensures that all necessary common reporting tools are available at all time.
Module Functionality
The reports cover personnel management, health safety & environment and logistics efficiency. The reports are all based on standard templates, but can be parameterized in many ways. Any report can be exported in all traditional formats (.pdf, .csv, .xls, etc.)
